Sharp Group's recycling plant in London

The client

Sharp Group is one of the oldest and most recognized brands in waste treatment company in London, operating for over 40 years. It provide four main services - skip hire, roll-on-off container hire, grab loader hire, and tradewaste services

The problem

Sharp Group operates a large recycling plant near London which processes 2800 tons of waste per week. It operates from 7 AM to 7 PM, but has capacity to work 24x7. However, for that, it'd have to hire 3 shifts of operatives. That has proven impossible, as the market is not willing to work at recycling plants due to their low work conditions

The solution

We are collecting data on what the operatives do to train our humanoid ALPHA. To that end, operatives are wearing a Meta Quest 3 headset while performing their daily work of picking up recyclable items from the conveyor belt. The headset is running a data capture software developed by us called HoloLab. Hololab captures the operative's finger position and what it sees and sends both data feeds to a google cloud server, where it is stored and processed. Once enough data is captured, it will be fed back to ALPHA robots in LeRobot format to run inference using Nvidia Isaac Gr00t.
